Physical metallurgy is basically the fundamentals and applications of the theory of phase transformations in metal and alloys. It deals mainly with mechanical and magnetic/electric/thermal properties of metals – treated by the discipline of solid state physics.

Course Objective

To develop understanding of and familiarization with the basic principles of Physical Metallurgy like heat treatments, phase transformations, phase diagrams, precipitation hardening and aging etc.
