To start with, the following six Paramedical vocational training courses were identified and designed in consultation with our hospital (Tata Main Hospital). These courses are certified with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India:

  • Central Sterile Supply Unit (CSSU) Technician
  • Dialysis Services Assistant
  • Radiography and Imaging Technician
  • Operation Theatre Technician
  • Pathology Lab Assistant
  • Dental Hygiene Assistant

The candidates for these courses were selected through the open written test and interview process and the above courses were formally launched with the release of the Training Reference Manual (TRM) on 9th November, 2015. In the first batch, about 35 persons were trained on these courses and after completion of the 1-year training, most of them have got employed with various agencies/institutes. Based on the success of the first batch, 3 additional Industrial Training courses were added during the year 2016, which are as under:

  • Electrical Fitter
  • Mechanical Fitter cum Rigger
  • Welder cum Gas Cutter

In 2016 , about 100 candidates were admitted for these courses (paramedical and industrial training) and successfully completed the one-year training program. This second batch of vocational training courses was formally inaugurated recently by Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minster of State (I/C), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India in the presence of Mr. T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel Ltd and other dignitaries. Mr. Rudy, during this function, also distributed the employment letter to the successful candidates of the first batch and released the Training Reference Manual (TRM) for all the courses of the 2nd batch. Post the successful completion of Industrial Training batch of 2016, 100% placement was done with vendor partners of Tata Steel at an CTC of 2.16 which is above median CTC for placement of similar courses in the country. Based on the demand, two new courses (Safety Supervisor and Rigger) have been added in Industrial Training - 2017 batches and all courses revamped based on inputs of the stake holders. To meet the numbers required and to upscale the same, a batch of 150 (30 in each course) has been started.
