Transformers are electrical devices consisting of two or more coils of wire used to transfer electrical energy by means of changing magnetic field. The transformer does this by linking together two or more electrical circuits by using a common oscillating magnetic circuit which is produced by the transformer itself. A transformer operates on the principles of “Electromagnetic Induction”, in the form of mutual induction. Therefore, the focus of the module is on transformers and its industrial usages.

Course Objective

1. Define Transformers and its working principles.
2. Phasor diagrams of working of transformer.
3. Execute different tests and maintenance of transformers.
4. Protect transformers from different faults.
